The Dallas Indicators website was first launched in March, 2004 as a collaborative partnership between five funding partners:
Each of the five partners contributed some combination of leadership time to the steering committee, pro bono time and services to the project team, and financial support to ensure the full funding of this effort for the first three years. The long-term goal of the partners was for Dallas Indicators to be a valuable tool for the entire community, thus becoming an integral part of how we do business in the future. The initial funding commitment from the five partners was for three years. On January 1, 2007, that commitment expired. With the website firmly established, The Boston Consulting Group, Belo Corp., and the Dallas Citizens Council chose not to renew funding for the project. Thus, the ongoing management and funding of Dallas Indicators is now a partnership between the Dallas Foundation and the Foundation for Community Empowerment.
The Dallas Indicators would like to give special recognition to the Boston Foundation for their support and guidance during the planning phase of the Dallas Indicators. A sub-set of the steering committee visited Boston and Paul Grogan and his staff graciously spent two days with us sharing their experience in the development of the Boston Indicators and the impact it had on its city. The quality of their work and the advice of the staff was beneficial in helping the partners of the Dallas Indicators decide to launch the Dallas Indicators project.
